Hi everyone, I lost access to my account for a while but I have it back now. I’ll attach a bunch of pictures of what we have been doing in class.

Hopefully you all saw, we are starting our weekly writing a little bit early. The kids are doing so well with dictée, I wanted to push them to apply everything they have learned into their writing. An explanation sheet, as well as the rating for this week went home on Monday. We decided as a class that it would be due on Mondays instead of Fridays, with the reminder that if they don’t want homework for the weekend, they can have it done by Friday! 

We have been fully immersed in Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We finished the book last week, and watched the old version of the movie. We worked on comparing, and they picked out so many similarities and differences. We are also working on an open ended project to show understanding of the book. We have created our own candies inspired by Mr. Wonka, and are now making papier-mâché replicas of them.

Here is this week's dictée in case anyone needs it. Students did a pre-celebration and then corrected their own work as a prep for learning how to proof read their own work. 

Next week, we will be starting a new social studies unit on culture. Part of the curriculum is to learn about local First Nations culture, but I believe that in order for them to understand another culture, students need to learn and respect their own culture. I will be sending home weekly prompts to talk about with your child. I just wanted to give families a heads up. If you are visiting family soon, make a point of having your child ask about traditions, or why they do certain things.
