Conference dates

I apologize, I got confused with dates while writing the conference slips. Please go by the DAY not the date writen!

As these are student-led conférences, please come prepared to see all the work your student has done/is doing, and ask them questions about it! I will leave the door unlocked, so come on in whenever you get there!

Canada and plant units

As you may see from the below post, we have been looking at each province's tourism videos and tourism websites. I always find this is a great way to give students an overview of the country before we get into greater details of geography and  facts. If you are looking for something to talk about at home. you can talk about where in Canada you have been and what it was like!

Also, I am looking for any extra potting soil you may have around the house. If you do have some, please drop it off at the portable any time in the next two weeks!

Monday 23 March 2015

I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing spring break! I know I was happy to have a break, but I am equally happy to be back! Third term is always filled with big units.

You may have seen a new book came home on agendas today! This is our new weekly homework that replaces dictée. There are instructions glued and written in the inside. What you need to know is that instead of dictée we will be doing writing. This book needs to come back to school every Monday. If there is no school on Monday, please bring it on Tuesday. I will be checking this weekly and it will count towards report card marks. The subject of the week is glued to the top of the page. It will change every week!

Also, if you have extra potting soil sitting around at home that you are wanting to donate to our class I would gladly take it off your hands! You can drop it off at the classroom any time!

Wednesday 4 March 2015

I am so happy to be back! What an adventure to be on, but as I told the kids, I was always thinking of them, wondering how they were doing.

Thank you for your patience with conférences. I pushed them to after the break so the kids are more prepared. I will give you more information after the break about sign ups!

Even though spring fever is in the air, the kids have been working hard! We finished our multiplication unit, did lots of fun writing, and finished a beautiful spring tree project. Check it out in the hallway!

We do not have enough drivers for skating on Friday. If you can help out to just drive and not stay, please let me know!

In the spirit of 'spread the word to end the word' day (Google the 'r word campaign'), check out this article if you're interested in why I choose to coach with special olympics. The person writing  it did an amazing job of capturing the spirit of the competition I was at! http://www.skatecanada.ca/2015/03/7070/
