I apologize that I didn't get this up yesterday, but I had to go home with a bad ear ache. Here is this week's dictée, along with pictures from last week. We have lots of writing to get done before Easter weekend, but we managed to fit in some science experiments as well as some art!

Also, yesterday was the kick off to our two weeks of celebrating aboriginal culture. Monday afternoon, we had a traditional opening ceremony with a video about some art forms you might see in first nation's culture.  Today we will be watching an animated version of some legends. We had lovely conversations after the opening about the stories the kids heard and the pictures they saw!

Here is this week's dictee. It's long, but repetitive, so we spoke a lot about how to study for this one in class!

Also, if you have spare pots for plants (the green or black containers that the plants are in when you buy them from the store) around home, and are not using them, it would be great if you could send them to class. We will be doing lots of planting soon!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their spring break! I know I enjoyed some time to relax, but am looking forward to returning to school to start our new units!

I just came across this great interactive webiste to learn about the parts of plants - our next science unit that we will be starting later in April: http://archive.fossweb.com/modulesK-2/NewPlants/activities/watchitgrow.swf

For this week's dictée, the students picked their own words. This is a good chance for them to find words around the class, in books, and in the dictionary, to find words that they find useful. I have checked all the work that was done in class. Some students still need to find some more words, and some need to finish the class work of writing a definition in their own words of their dictée words.

Also, here is another fun space picture I found!

As we are finishing our space unit...

...nice way to see all the planets! Savez-vous quelle planette est la quelle?

Today's video

As you may have heard, we filmed a video to show this week's behaviour goals. The students planned everything out including the rules to cover and how to show them. All I did was film it and put it together at the end. If you would like a copy of this video, please email me at mme.jessica.chapelski@gmail.com and I will gladly send you the video!

Also, you will see in the agenda today a note saying 'j'ai ____ de 7 battons'. This is referring to our system to track how much French they are speaking in class. They are more than capable to explain the system and what the 'battons' mean!

Have an enjoyable weekend!

Multiplication enrichment

As you hopefully have heard, we have been perfecting our multiplication skills in class. Technically, in grade 3, we need only to learn up to 5x5 but we have been doing much more in class. Here are some ideas for practice and enrichment at home.
