Sometimes we do cosmic kids yoga in class. I just saw that she is doing an advent calendar with a new yoga video every day. I thought some of the kids might want to do this at home. You can find it here: https://tuerchen.com/cosmickids

(Backup) [Auto-saved Post]

We have started some weekly ‘traditions’ in class. We will be having a weekly emotion, as well as a weekly competency. Competencies are linked to the core competencies in the new curriculum. These are in the form of  ‘I statements’ that the students will keep in mind. We will also be adding weekly expressions.

We will have discussions on Mondays and throughout the week about these. I will post them every week so you can talk about them at home.

I noticed a few dictées were left at school. If you need the words, they are here

Reminder that being in the portable with this wet weather, students should have boots and jackets with them. We often walk past these big puddles, and students are outside at recess and lunch!

Thank you for your patience as I get goal setting packages ready to send home. Being sick definitely threw a wrench in my productivity!

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to the last few weeks.

A couple of things - first off, there is no dictée this week. I know it will be busy with Halloween festivities.

Second, we did all kinds of pumpkin activities today. Their worksheet will be coming home tomorrow after we do a final tally. Here are some photos from the messy fun today.

Here are the voting results from our class. It was so great to see all the kids voting. I’ve also attached some other pictures of our last week

Exciting news! We will be participating in the CIVIX Student Vote. You can find their website here to learn more.

We will be running a mock civic election in the class and students will get to vote for the same candidates as will be on the official ballot in Vancouver.

I will be teaching the main political parties' platforms in class, but I ask you to talk to your students about the different issues being spoken about in this election. Students will be taking 'cheat sheets' to the ballots, so feel free to help your students make them as you are speaking about the issues.
