Have you been practicing sight words at home? We have been working really hard to practice them at school. This week, we kept the same words so we would get a little more practice in! 

For rememberance day last week, we had some beautiful conversations about what peace feels like, sounds like, tastes like, and looks like. I’m always amazed by the conversations that come up around peace. We did some art, attended out online assembly, and library tote some poems with Mrs Kwan. 

We really enjoyed this story about Binny, who was a bit nervous to share about her holiday at school. She remembered the lights of Diwali and gained the courage to share with her class! Keep an eye on our window for some Diwali inspired art! 

We played a very fun math game the other day. One student picks a number on the hundreds chart. The other asks if it is a certain number, and the response has to be either ‘yes!’ or ‘no, but the number is bigger’ or ‘no, but the number is smaller’. This game is great for number recognition and practicing number awareness up to 100

We had great Halloween fun today!

We had a Halloween dance party, and build haunted houses! The parade through the classes in the morning was so cute!

We have been learning how to appreciate books, even if we can’t read all the words! We spent some time looking through Halloween books, making up stories with the pictures, and seeing if there are any words we recognize. This is a great thing to practice at home as well. 

For art, we have been working on some portraits that will grace our walls! It was pretty funny hearing the exclamations when I said that we would have different coloured skin and hair!

We have so much to be thankful for. The students worked very hard on their trees. They painted, colored, cut, brainstormed together, and wrote! 

Hello division 4! I am back in to my account and ready to share some of the fun things we have been doing! Here is a little video from September 29th. We had a great discussion about what orange shirt days means, and spend some time colouring a design by a local indigenous artist. They were so mindful in their colouring as we talked about sending healing thoughts to indigenous communities.
